Overview: The Focus of the Upper-school French program is to give students communicative competence with growing accuracy and attention to nuance as students progress through the program. Students are assessed at the beginning of the year and then periodically throughout the year to monitor their progress. A portfolio is created for each student so that they can see their growth. Active participation is integral to the course, and students work individually, in pairs and in groups. The French program is integrated with other departments, such as European History and the Humanities, to place the language in a cultural and historical context. Instruction is in French.
