Oak Hill School’s ELL class is designed to assist non-native English learners with:

 

TOEFL and SAT preparation and practice

 

English for Special Purposes; the vocabulary and style necessary for understanding and making yourself understood in:

-Math

-Science

-History

-Grammar (language about language)

 

Conversation (fluidity and “survival language”)

 

Multi-media use (accessing and distilling information from a variety of sources; newspapers, TV, radio, texts, magazines, internet, film, etc.).

 

Individual, one-on-one work / assistance

 

 

Classroom Work: For the month of November we will be working on personal biographies. Students will be writing about themselves as well as collecting material (pictures, props etc.) to use in a presentation about themselves. The research, organizing, writing, revising and presentation skills students will develop are specifically designed to help them practice their English and assist them in their other coursework.

 

Homework: No homework for the Thanksgiving break.
