Kindergarten News!
for November
November is looking Newsworthy with the Thanksgiving holiday coming! Our
themes this month are Family, the Farm, Corn, and Thanksgiving!
Our letters of the week will be M, F, E, and T. (We also
review other letters that we have been practicing from past weeks, and integrate
them through the curriculum as well.)
Would You Like To Help Us Build a Scarecrow for the Oak Hill Garden?
Below are some of the items needed for our scarecrow, please choose one and I
will check it off the list, if you'd like to add any other finishing touches,
please let me know!
Overalls or pair of old jeans, the holier, the better!
Old flannel long-sleeved shirt
Old Boots or shoes-mismatched ok
Straw
Old pillow case or sack (that can be painted)
Gardening gloves
Old rake, shovel, or dowel of some sort, or just the handles of...
Time to help us put it together!!
In November, we will be starting a Take-Home Reader program. Your child will
bring home 2 classroom books, or more, per week. Each book will be accompanied
by a colored bookmark:
A green bookmark="I can read by myself"
a yellow= "I may need some help reading this book"
a red= "Can you read this book to me?"
I will attempt to guide your child in choosing books from each category fairly
equitably. Please see that the books are returned consistently, as I do not have
very many books at their reading level at this time. There will be a chart for
your child to color in on the back of the Homework Chart when a book is
read and returned.

Homework is designed to reinforce concepts that are being taught and learned in the classroom.
Time spent on homework will vary. I do not require a certain amount of time spent on homework. You know your child's tolerance level and attention span best. I will do my best to make the assignments engaging and fun!
Please feel free to discuss work habit type issues with me directly. Working together, I am confident that we will be able to solve the problem!
