From space, every school looks small. Up close, you can see the difference at Oak Hill School.
Positive relationships have a tremendous impact on student achievement and growth. Oak Hill is small and we intend to keep it that way. This allows us to give our students the most meaningful educational experience possible. With an average student to teacher ratio of six to one, Oak Hill’s faculty knows our students personally--as learners, thinkers, and individuals. Equally important is how well we know our students’ parents, and how we strive to create relationships to support student learning in the classroom and at home.
Transparency is integral to our intentional small design. We welcome student and parent input and involvement at Oak Hill. Regularly, the Headmaster says, “We can’t fix it if we don’t know it’s a problem.” Maybe this is why he spends most mornings in the school parking lot so you can talk to him about your ideas or concerns. And, rest assured, he knows our families as well as our teachers do. Oak Hill’s faculty and administrators encourage ongoing, honest, but respectful feedback. This way, discussions about student needs and opportunities are comprehensive, and students learn the value of such communication as a cornerstone of their character development. Relationships fortify Oak Hill’s healthy school climate; they help us make the best decisions to improve our program always with our families at the forefront of our minds.
